A warm expression created by amber-colored glaze.

Tamba ware is said to have originated from the end of the Heian period to the beginning of the Kamakura period, and is one of the Six Ancient Kilns of Japan (certified as a Japan Heritage site). Shusaku Ichino of Shozo-gama (Tamba Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture) is an artist who, after graduating from Ryukoku University, honed his skills at the Kyoto Prefectural Pottery Technology College and continues to create pottery as the third generation of his family. While cherishing traditional techniques, he creates modern works with rich colors and delicate flows, and has won numerous awards, including the Grand Prize at the Kobe Biennale Contemporary Ceramics Competition.
