Shozo-gama's versatile donburi bowl.
Tambaware is said to have originated from the late Heian period to the early Kamakura period and is one of the Six Ancient Kilns of Japan (certified as a Japan Heritage site). Shusaku Ichino of Shozo-gama (Tamba-Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture) is an artist who, after graduating from Ryukoku University, honed his skills at the Kyoto Prefectural Pottery Advanced Technical School and continues to create pottery as the third generation. While valuing traditional techniques, he produces modern works with rich colors and delicate flows, and has received numerous awards, including the Grand Prize at the Kobe Biennale Contemporary Ceramics Competition.
■ Maison Toji's Selection Point
This deep donburi bowl is available in two glazes with different expressions: a soft white glaze and a rich amber glaze. The way the glaze flows down from the rim creates a unique pattern, so no two pieces are exactly alike, allowing you to enjoy the pleasure of choosing your own unique vessel.
■ Product Features
With its generous depth and capacity, this versatile donburi bowl is perfect for a wide range of dishes, from noodle dishes like ramen and udon to rice bowls and salad bowls. Its simple yet timeless appearance blends seamlessly with both Japanese and Western dining tables.
