Powerful spiral patterns, held in the palm of your hand. A rugged mug crafted with Tamba's artistry.

Tamba ware is said to have originated from the late Heian period to the early Kamakura period, making it one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns (certified as a Japan Heritage site). Shusaku Ichino of Shozo Kiln (Tambasasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture) is a ceramic artist who, after graduating from Ryukoku University, honed his skills at the Kyoto Prefectural Ceramics Vocational Training College, and continues to create ceramics as the third-generation master. While valuing traditional techniques, he produces modern works with rich colors and delicate flows, and has received numerous awards, including the Grand Prize at the Kobe Biennale Contemporary Ceramics Competition.

■ Maison Toji's Selection Point

This mug features an attractive combination of dynamic, swirling spiral brushwork and complex colors where deep indigo and iron tones blend. Available in four colors—brown, beige, white-blue, and deep blue—you can enjoy the "scenery" that reveals various expressions depending on how the light hits it, adding beauty to your daily life.

■ Product Features

The thick rim provides a pleasant feel to the lips and comfortably conveys the temperature of your drink. Perfect for morning coffee or tea time, it also doubles as a generously sized soup cup and complements both Japanese and Western dining tables. The tactile spiral ridges felt by your fingers evoke the artisan's handiwork.
