■ PROFILE

Asanogama - Mayuko Ichino
Tanba-yaki is a ceramic tradition with over 800 years of history, centered in Tanbasasayama, Hyogo Prefecture. Mayuko Ichino, who leads Asanogama, learned the craft at her family's Shozo Kiln before establishing her own studio. Her style, which reflects the sensibilities of a younger generation, layers lovely motifs like dots and flowers over the rustic, earthy clay of Tanba.

■ Recommended Pairings

By collecting pieces from the same kiln, you can create a charming and cohesive table setting.
