■ PROFILE

Asanogama | Mayuko Ichino
Tamba-yaki is a type of pottery with over 800 years of history, preserved primarily in Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture. Mayuko Ichino, who runs Asanogama, studied pottery at her family’s Shozo Kiln before branching out on her own to establish Asanogama. Her style, typical of the younger generation, characterizes itself by layering charming expressions of dots and flowers onto the rustic clay of Tamba.

■ Recommended Pairings

You can create a cohesive and lovely table setting by coordinating with other pieces from the same kiln.
