■ PROFILE

Asano-gama: Mayuko Ichino
Tanba-yaki is a type of pottery with over 800 years of history, primarily preserved in the Tanba-Sasayama region of Hyogo Prefecture. Mayuko Ichino, who leads Asano-gama, learned the craft at her family's Shozo-gama kiln before going independent and establishing her own kiln. Her signature style, characteristic of a younger generation, involves adding charming expressions such as dots and flowers to the rustic soil of Tanba.

■ Recommended Pairings

Coordinating with other pieces from the same kiln can create a cohesive and lovely table setting.
