Teacup | Gen-emon Kiln

Tamba craftsmanship and contemporary design that fit comfortably in your hands.

Tamba ware is pottery made in a tradition passed down mainly in Tamba-Sasayama, Hyogo Prefecture. Taro Ichino of Genuemon Kiln is a potter whose family has practiced the craft for two generations. While preserving the traditions of Tamba ware, he specializes in modern, charming designs such as polka dots, stripes, and checkerboard patterns. Since rice bowls are used every day, we’re delighted to bring you one adorned with a modern design you won’t tire of.

01. Stripes, Puzzle, or Checkerboard: Choose from Three Designs

The appeal lies in the pleasure of choosing from three distinct designs to suit your mood or table setting. Each piece is decorated by hand, so the lines and patterns vary from one to another; even within the same design, every bowl has its own unique character.

02. A Comfortable Fit in Your Hands and an Easy-to-Use Size

This rice bowl is an easy-to-use size that feels just right in your hands. It’s perfect for rice, but also works well for soup, simmered dishes, or as a small donburi bowl.

03. Mix and Match Designs for a Bowl for Each Family Member

Choose different designs to give each member of the family their own bowl.

■ Care for Long-Lasting Use

• Soaking the bowl in water before its first use can help prevent stains and color transfer.
• After use, dry thoroughly before storing.

■ Recommended Pairings
Pair it with other pieces in the same series to create a cohesive, modern Japanese-inspired setting.
