A profound landscape, imbued with tranquility. Jun Takagi's "Bizen-ware" round cup (subdued).

Bizen-ware, one of Japan's six ancient kilns, is an art form born from the rich soil and fire of Okayama Prefecture. This cup, created by artist Jun Takagi, exquisitely balances the powerful texture unique to unglazed firing with an endearing, plump form. This particular "subdued" version is a masterpiece, captivating with its calm tones and profound expression.

■ Maison Toji's Selection Point

Maison Toji selected this cup for its "subtle appearance that evokes wabi-sabi" and its "beautiful curves that fit comfortably in the hand." The deeper coloring, compared to typical Bizen-ware, adds a dignified touch to any table. We chose it not only as a teacup or sake cup but also because its serene aesthetic makes it suitable as a desk accessory holder or an interior accent.

【Product Features】

A profound gradation woven by fire and earth. Bizen-ware is created by firing clay at high temperatures without any glaze. This "subdued" type is characterized by deep colors born from being thoroughly fired. The complex appearance, which changes depending on how the light hits it, is endlessly fascinating to behold.

The power of clay enhances the flavor of beverages. The fine pores within Bizen-ware are said to mellow the taste of beverages. When you pour tea, coffee, or sake into it, the properties of the clay soften the edges, leading to a deeper flavor. Please also enjoy the process as the surface becomes smoother with use, developing a unique color personal to the user.
