■ PROFILE
Asanogama: Mayuko Ichino
Tanba ware is a ceramic tradition with over 800 years of history, centered in Tanbasasayama, Hyogo Prefecture. Mayuko Ichino, who leads Asanogama, established her own studio after learning the craft at her family’s kiln, Shozo-gama. Her style reflects a younger generation’s aesthetic, layering charming patterns of dots and flowers onto the rustic, traditional earth of Tanba.
