The beauty of smudged, layered gradients.

Tamba ware is one of the Six Ancient Kilns of Japan (certified Japanese Heritage), said to have originated from the late Heian period to the early Kamakura period. Shusaku Ichino of Shozo Kiln (Tamba Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture) is an artist who, after graduating from Ryukoku University, honed his skills at the Kyoto Prefectural Pottery Technology Center and continues to create pottery as the third generation. While valuing traditional techniques, he produces contemporary works with rich colors and delicate flows, and has received numerous awards, including the Grand Prize at the Kobe Biennale Contemporary Ceramics Competition.

01. Delicate gradients created by layering glazes

Instead of applying the glaze all at once, layers of glaze are sprayed on, creating a gradient that spreads like a smudge from the white center to the color of the rim. In the center, "scenery" (black specks) created during firing emerge, giving each piece a different expression.

02. The splendor of a floral shape for your dining table

The edges, ruffled like flower petals, add splendor to your dining table just by plating food on them. It can be used for a wide range of purposes, such as side dishes, dessert plates, or condiment plates.

03. Two colors, red and yellow

We offer two colors: a passionate red and a bright yellow to adorn your dining table. Please choose according to your dish or the occasion.

Size Approx. 16.5cm (diameter) x 3cm (height)

Notes Due to the manual spraying and glazing process, there are individual differences in how the gradient appears and how the central "scenery" (black spots) emerges. Color irregularities and smudges are not defects, but rather the natural texture intended by the artist.
