Tanba-yaki is a ceramic tradition with over 800 years of history, centered in Tanbasasayama, Hyogo Prefecture. Mayuko Ichino, who leads Asanogama, studied pottery at her family’s Shozo Kiln before establishing her own studio, Asanogama. Her work is characterized by a fresh, youthful style that layers charming dots and flowers onto the rustic clay of Tanba.
