Shoyogama was founded in 1968 in Tamba-Sasayama. The family tradition has been passed down through generations, from the second-generation Hiroshi Ogami to the third-generation Yuki Ogami, who continue to create pottery. After years of research, they arrived at a matte texture and the rich, earthy charm that characterizes their work. From this captivating series, we introduce a versatile shallow bowl, perfect for everyday meals.
With just the right depth, this bowl is ideal for a wide range of dishes, from side dishes like ohitashi (blanched greens) and nimono (simmered dishes) to salads, fruits, and even as individual serving bowls. It’s also highly functional, designed to be stacked beautifully, even when you have one for each family member, without creating a cluttered feel.
The smooth, matte surface absorbs light, highlighting the vibrant colors of your food. Its embracing hues are particularly effective in showcasing warm, steaming dishes.
You can choose from three colors: Yuzu (yellow), Kuricha (brown), and Aoi (blue), and two sizes: small (16cm) and large (19cm). Since each piece is handcrafted from Tamba clay, slight variations in color intensity may occur due to firing conditions and glaze application. These unique differences make each piece a one-of-a-kind treasure just for you.
