Tamba ware is pottery with a history of over 800 years, passed down through generations in and around Tamba-Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture. Mayuko Ichino, who runs Asanogama, learned pottery-making at her family’s Shozogama kiln before setting out on her own and opening Asanogama. Her distinctive style reflects the sensibility of a younger generation, pairing the earthy simplicity of Tamba clay with the charming look of dotted accents.
